Last Saturday, the Corby Irish Centre became the beating heart of the town’s music scene as it hosted the Corby Music Awards (CMA). The evening was a vibrant celebration of talent, community, and creativity, bringing together artists, fans, and supporters in a shared appreciation for local music.
As proud sponsors of the DJ of the Year and Venue of the Year awards, Fleckies was delighted to join the celebration. We were thrilled to have some incredible guests with us too, including On Road Records, musician Aiden Pryor, photographer Amber Waterfield, and DJ Andizz – all of whom were blown away with Corby’s thriving creative spirit.
A Legacy of Community Spirit
The CMA was born out of a desire to honour the late Barry Addison, a cherished figure in Corby’s music community who dedicated his life to supporting local talent through his “Live and Local” show on Corby Radio. Barry’s wife, Janine, and his family were present to accept a special award in his memory. The moment was both touching and uplifting, underscoring the deep sense of community that drives the CMA.
James Hunter of Sour Promotions, the mastermind behind the CMA, reflected on its significance:
“The emotion of the night, from bands to sponsors and everything in between, was unreal. It’s exciting to be part of a night that celebrates Corby’s incredible music community. Watching young talent emerge and seeing seasoned artists like Des Barber still bringing incredible energy proves how special this town is for music.”

A Celebration of Talent
With 20 awards, 17 sponsors, and over 6,200 votes cast, the CMA showcased the best of Corby’s diverse music scene. The night highlighted not only established artists but also emerging talent, creating an atmosphere of mutual respect and inspiration.
Among the most memorable moments was Jam Knights winning the Initiative of the Year award. Their work in creating community spirit through music exemplifies what makes the Corby scene so special.
Another highlight for Fleckies specifically was presenting Dupex with the DJ of the Year award. Dupex has been a huge supporter of Fleckies since day one, even before it was officially launched, so celebrating him on this evening and presenting him with such a well-deserved award was an incredibly special moment.

“The Corby music community is incredible, and the CMA is a perfect example of what makes it so special. Supporting and celebrating local talent is vital – being a musician can be such a relentless journey, so events like this are both inspiring and affirming. The welcome Fleckies has received from the Corby scene has been amazing, and the CMA embodies everything we stand for at Fleckies: connection, creativity, and community.
