The Scenesters: Corby’s Rising Stars Ready to Rock the Stage

If you haven’t heard of The Scenesters yet, it’s time to get them on your radar. This fresh-faced, super-talented indie-rock band from Corby started making waves back in 2019 while they were still at school. Fast forward to today, and they’re gearing up for one of their final gigs of the year, supporting OWAYSIS at Corby Irish Centre on December 20th.

From School Gigs to Big Stages

The Scenesters’ journey began with Zak (vocals) teaming up with Bradley (guitar) when they were just 13. Initially playing school gigs and covers, the duo quickly brought in Hugo (drums) before finding their missing piece—Drew (bass)—to complete the lineup. Drew’s arrival gave the band a fresh vibe, inspiring Zak to shift their sound into a unique blend of indie and alternative rock.

“We’re like a mash-up of The Smiths and Arctic Monkeys,” Zak explains. “Energetic tracks with relatable lyrics—something everyone can connect with. But the best part? The meaning behind the music is totally up to interpretation, so it always feels new and exciting.”

Their music is all about energy and emotion, and you can feel it every time they hit the stage. Whether you’re screaming along to their lyrics or jumping around in the crowd, The Scenesters make sure their gigs are unforgettable.

The Big December Gig

December 20th is shaping up to be a massive night for Corby’s music scene. The Scenesters will be supporting OWAYSIS at the Irish Centre, and with Christmas just around the corner, the vibe is guaranteed to be electric.

“We’re so hyped for this one,” Zak says. “OWAYSIS are an amazing band, and our sound fits so well alongside theirs. The show’s so close to Christmas, so the energy’s going to be unreal. Expect a high-energy set that really showcases what we’re all about!”

Highlights, Highs, and What’s Next

2024’s been a killer year for The Scenesters, with standout gigs like their recent show in Edinburgh still fresh in their minds. “The crowd in Edinburgh was insane—they were singing our songs back to us. That’s a feeling you never get tired of,” Zak says.

But the band isn’t slowing down anytime soon. With 2025 on the horizon, they’ve got big plans to take things up a notch. New cities, more gigs, and, most excitingly, new music are all on the cards. “We’ve been working on some new tracks all year,” Zak teases. “They’re different from anything we’ve done before, and we can’t wait for people to hear them.”

And beyond 2025? The dream is simple—go big. “We’re focused on refining our sound and making music we love. Everything else will follow,” Zak adds.
